U.S. News & World Report 2017 Best Graduate Schools Guidebook recently ranked the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) No. 46 for its Master of Science Nursing (MSN) program. The university was also ranked No. 44 for its Doctor of Nursing (DNP) program.
The new report shows a dramatic rise in ranking for the university’s nursing programs, up from No. 72 in 2016 and No. 197 in 2011. This is the university’s highest ranking in the 27 years of its existence.
The national rankings of doctoral and nursing programs were based on evaluations of 519 accredited institutions. U.S. News & World Report measured average GPA’s, faculty quality, enrollment figures, grants, acceptance rates and the ratio of faculty to students.
FAU has a 25% acceptance rate and offers master’s degrees in the following:

- Adult Gerontological Nurse Practitioner Post Master’s Certificate
- Family Nurse Practitioner Post Master’s Certificate
- Clinical Nurse Leader Post Master’s Certificate
- Clinical Nurse Leader Post Master’s Certificate
- Advanced Holistic Nursing Post Master’s Certificate
- Administrative and Financial Leadership in Nursing and Health Care Post Master’s Certifciate
- Nursing Administration and Financial Leadership Master of Science
FAU’s College of Nursing’s dean, Marlaine Smith is proud and honored by the recognition the programs have received. “This recognition underscores the commitment of our faculty to provide high quality and innovative learning experiences for our students…,” she said.
FAU’s nursing program began in 1979 as part of the university’s Social Sciences program. The MSN program was approved in 1988. It is based in Boca Raton, Florida and is ranked No. 3 for the DNP and MSN programs. FAU is known for its nontraditional approach in nursing education which utilizes the fundamentals of Feng Shui as a complete patient treatment approach.
